The last time I worked was May 1st. It was such a terrible day at work and I couldn't wait for it to be over. The had tacos for the first time and it was so messy. The had ground hamburger, refried beans, and rice with a taco shell and sides on the side. Most of them said that the soft shells tasted like cardboard and that they didn't like it. It took forever for them to eat so that made my night a little longer. Plus getting them back to their rooms later than normal wasn't on my to do list. That night I worked with Teya and we didn't get out of there until 8:30 and I was super ticked. Considering it was Sunday and a school night and I didn't want to be there in the first place. Super glad that I don't work again until May 7th. The reason I got the whole week off was because of mayfete practice all week until late. Then the real thing is Friday night.

The last time I worked it was a pretty fast night. They were having cheeseburgers and onion rings with some fruit on the side. So most of them wanted that instead of something different. Granted, some of them did want a grilled cheese or soup but not many at all. Some of my regulars have not been coming down at all and it is really upsetting me. Harold Waller has not been coming down because he would rather watch the ball games that are on so he eats in his room. Floyd Tresner has not been coming down because his heart is failing him and hes not doing too well. That makes me super upset and I just wish he would get better but he refuses care. Thelma Sturgeon hasn´t been coming down very often either and shes so cute and sweet. After I got all of my residents fed and back to their rooms I started cleaning up so I could get out of there. I ended up leaving around 7:40 ish and that was okay with me.

I worked last night and it was a very long night. I was there an hour later than what I should have been so that was one thing that really ticked me off. Then I find out that the residents are having a salmon patty and rice for dinner. The residents thought it was just as gross as I did. So it was a long night just trying to get different orders in because none of them wanted salmon. So finally all the residents were starting to go back to their rooms at about 6:30, which is kind of late. Which means we didn't get started on cleaning up until about 6:45 and so that set us back a lot. Cleaning up seemed like it took forever. Especially since I didn't get out until 8:45 and usually i get out at 7:45. The residents were in a good mood last night though, thankfully. Talking to the residents is the only thing that gets me through my job. Even though Barb had me go to her room and search for her bottom set of teeth. The whole time they were in her wheelchair! They just crack me up.

I worked Saturday over the weekend and it was a pretty easy night. The kitchen made them a turkey and ham sandwich with lettuce, tomato, bacon, and cheese. With the sandwich they got a bag of chips, macaroni salad, and ice cream. They made it like a little picnic dinner for them and I thought it was the cutest thing. A lot of the residents actually really liked it and that is what made my night so easy. My favorite resident ever has not been feeling well at all. She was in the hospital Wednesday or Thursday and she was back Saturday but still was not feeling the greatest. She is 98 years old so that scares me a lot. She will tell you when she thinks she is dying, and it makes me so sad. I am not ready for anybody that I am close to, pass away yet. One of the only downfalls to working in a nursing home setting and it is terrible. On the bright side I will be a CNA soon.

I worked both Friday and Saturday this past weekend. When I worked Saturday they were having pulled pork if I remember correctly. A lot of them will eat the barbecue but not all of them will, so I had some other orders I had to put in. Which wasn't a big deal at all. I sat in the dining room and socialized with them until their supper came out. After they were all finished up, I had to push several of them back to their rooms. I don't mind pushing them down to their rooms at all, it is just a lot of work walking back and forth so many times. Then I have to go straight into straightening up my dining rooms, which is the worst part. I am usually fairly busy until I get off at 8. Sometimes I even run over a little bit because I get so busy. Which is fine because from about 5 to 6 I am fairly bored and do not have much to do until they serve my dining room, which is the last place to be served. This is why the residents get crabby waiting to get fed.

I worked last night until 8:30. I went and got popcorn chicken from Walmart before I went in. Then I sat down and ate my chicken and wrapped all of the silverware. After I got all of the silverware wrapped, I set the dining room and got their drinks ready for them. As the residents started piling in, the busier I got. I give them all water before they even get to the dining room and then once they come in I give them the drink that they would like. For example, Joe Barkley always gets orange juice and Donna Littleton always gets iced tea. I know exactly what every single one of them want to drink. I've been there so long that I know every single one of them like the back of my hand. It is an awesome feeling to be so close to all of them, but sometimes that will backfire since they are so old and sadly, can die at anytime. I haven't really lost any of my residents and really do not want to. Donald Wilson passed away not too long ago but he only came down to the dining room a couple of times, so it wasn't too hard on me. I love working at the nursing home so much.

I went to Tennessee this past weekend so the last day that I worked was Wednesday night. Wednesday nights are bingo nights for the residents at Paris Healthcare! So they were all excited to get done eating supper and get down to bingo. They are some residents who do not like bingo but the majority of them love it. They had potatoe soup for dinner that night so it was a pretty easy night. Most of them like potatoe soup, but if they don't we had beef stew for them. Those are my favorite work days, where there are no special orders from the residents. They had some cinnamon bread for dessert and most of it was hard as brick so the residents were throwing a fit about that. Which I don't blame them, I would too. There were only a select few of them that weren't hard so I had to go in and complain until I got them soft bread. But I would do mostly anything to keep the residents happy, they deserve it. Old people are the cutest and deserve to have things they want.
